ASI Board of Directors
Regularly Meets On: Every other Thursday from 2PM – 4:15PM
Location: U-SU Board Rm. 303AB

The purposes and function of the Board of Directors (BOD) shall:

  1. Act as a governing board for the ASI
  2. Serve as advocates for the student body
  3. Act as a steward for student body fees
  4. Provide a learning laboratory for student leadership

The Board of Directors shall consist of the following directors elected by the Cal State LA student body, as specified in the ASI Bylaws.

ASI Bylaws

Cabinet of College Representatives
Regularly Meets On: Once a month on Tuesday from 1:45PM - 2:45PM

The purpose and function of the Cabinet of College Representatives is to support college representatives by opening lines of communication and collaboration within the unit. The membership of the committee includes:

  • All the College Representatives
  • ASI Chief of Staff
  • ASI President (non-voting)
  • ASI Executive Director or designee (non-voting)

With the support of the Chief of Staff, the Representatives work together to:

  • Strengthen the communication amongst all college representatives by sharing developments, programs, and concerns within each college.
  • Assess and identify students' needs and develop strategies to address their needs for the short-term and long-term basis.
  • Establish inter-collegiate programs or initiatives.

Community Engagement and Outreach Committee
Regularly Meets On: Weekly on Wednesday from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: U-SU Alhambra Room 305

The Community Engagement and Outreach Committee (CEO) coordinates, plans, and executes ASI’s events and activities for the student body. An important function of the committee is to allocate funds for ASI’s programs.

The CEO Committee membership includes:

  • ASI Vice President for Community Engagement (Chair)
  • Diversity and Inclusion Officer
  • Civic Engagement Officer
  • Engagement Commissioner
  • ASI President
  • Four (4) students at-large from the student body
  • Screaming Eagles Coordinator (non-voting)
  • ASI Program Coordinator (non-voting)

CEO Committee Code of Procedures

Environmental Policy Committee
Regularly Meets On: Meeting Time: 1st & 3rd Fridays, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The Environmental Policy Committee formulates and encourages the adoption of policies that will make ASI's internal practices more environmentally sustainable. In addition, the committee also seeks to:

  • Collaborate with Cal State LA administrators to encourage the adoption of policies that will make Cal State LA a more environmentally sustainable campus.
  • Educate the on-campus community on the topic of environmental sustainability and environmental justice.
  • Formulate and encourage the adoption of policies that will make the California State University system more environmentally sustainable, working primarily through the California State Student Association (CSSA).

Environmental Policy Committee Code of Procedure

Executive Cabinet
Regularly Meets On: Once a month on Tuesday 3PM – 4:15PM
Location: U-SU Board Room 303

The Executive Cabinet coordinates the information, programs, projects, policies, and issues to be considered by the Associated Students, Inc. Board of Directors. The Executive Cabinet shall also provide oversight for the standing committees of ASI and serves as pseudo-supervisors of the other ASI Board members. The Executive Cabinet shall also serve as a decision-making body in case the Board of Directors is unable to meet for an emergency matter.

The Executive Cabinet is composed of the following members:

  • ASI President (Chair)
  • ASI Chief of Staff (Vice-Chair)
  • ASI Vice President for Community Engagement
  • ASI Vice President for Finance
  • ASI Vice President for University Affairs
  • ASI Vice President for External Affairs
  • Two (2) members of the BOD appointed by the ASI President with a simple majority consent

Executive Cabinet Code of Procedures

Finance Committee
Regularly Meets On: Every other Thursday 2PM – 4PM

The Finance Committees acts on behalf of the BOD in all matters pertaining to income appropriation, and the safeguarding of Associated Students, Inc. funds. The Finance Committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding allocation of funds for the corporation and the programs and services for the student body. The committee also assists in the preparation of ASI’s annual budget. The Finance Committee also has the responsibility for recommending funding allocations to the Registered Student Organizations (RSO’s).

The Finance Committee is composed of the following members:

Legislative Affairs & Advocacy Committee
Regularly Meets On: Every other Wednesday from 9:45 AM - 10:45 AM

This committee reviews, researches, and makes recommendations on legislation at the local and State level, through CSSA. Additionally, this body creates an annual advocacy agenda and recommends action to the BOD.

The Legislative Affairs and Advocacy Committee membership consists of the following:

  • ASI Vice President of External Affairs (Chair)
  • ASI President
  • Civic Engagement Officer
  • Diversity and Inclusion Officer
  • Vice President for University Affairs
  • Two ASI Board of Directors members
  • Three students at-large from the student body
  • ASI Executive Director or designee (non-voting)

Legislative Affairs and Advocacy Committee Code of Procedures

Personnel Committee
Regularly Meets On: Once a month on Tuesday 3PM – 4PM
Location: U-SU Board Room 303

The Personnel Committee shall act on behalf of the BOD in all matters concerning employees of the corporation. Such actions shall be in accordance with Title V of the Administrative Code of the State of California, Policies and Directives of the Board of Trustees of the California State University and Colleges, Policies of the University, the Articles of Incorporation, and the ASI Bylaws.

The Personnel Committee makes recommendations to the BOD regarding employee policies, compensation, benefits, and staffing structure. The committee shall be composed of the following:

  • ASI Chief of Staff (Chair)
  • ASI President
  • ASI Vice President for Community Engagement
  • ASI Vice President for University Affairs
  • ASI Vice President for Finance
  • ASI Vice President for External Affairs
  • Two (2) members of the BOD
  • ASI Executive Director (non-voting)
  • A representative from the University's Office of Human Resources Management (non-voting)
  • University President or designee (non-voting)

Shared Governance Council
Regularly Meets On: Five Thursday's a Semester 3pm - 4:30pm

The purpose and function of the Shared Governance Council (SGC) of the Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is to:

  • Review, research, and make recommendations on, but not limited to, Academic and Administrative policy affecting students.
  • Maintain active communication to the student body regarding Academic and Administrative Affairs by creating resolutions, white papers, utilizing media outlets, etc.
  • Work with all appropriate areas in order to ensure that genuine Shared Governance is being upheld between students, faculty, and administration.
  • Create annual assessments of student needs and concerns.

Shared Governance Council membership includes:

  • Vice President for University Affairs (Chair)
  • ASI Academic Senators (2 Undergraduates, 2 Graduates, 1 At-large)
  • All student Representatives appointed to University and Academic Senate Committees and Subcommittees
  • All ASI Board members that are appointed to serve on a University or Academic Senate Committee or Subcommittee
  • Faculty Appointee
  • AVP/Dean of Students or designee (non-voting)
  • ASI Executive Director or designee (non-voting)

Shared Governance Council Code of Procedures
